Oktoberfest, a celebration of camaraderie, hardy feasts and beer, is underway at the Villa Eyrie Resort. Although the two ‘feast-full” weeks of the event are coming to a close at the Resort’s award-winning Alpina Restaurant, you can still indulge in the special Oktoberfest menu until this Sunday, October 30th.

The feature menu features delicious, traditional dishes such as Weisswurst, sausage made from minced veal and pork back bacon, Speck-Brez’n Knodel, Bavarian bacon-bread dumplings, apple strudel and more! Can’t choose? Try them all with the Schlachteplatte, a selection of all the items and obatzda (a Bavarian cheese delicacy), house made brez’n (a Bavarian pretzel), landjager (semidried beef and pork sausage), bratwurst, schinkenspeck (low salt, dried and cured ham), garnished with radishes, butter and marinated daikon radish.

The special menu was curated by the Alpina Restaurant’s executive culinary team members, Mario Gross and Matthias Conradi, who both originate from Germany where the celebration began.

Mario Gross, Executive Chef of the Alpina Restaurant, completed his culinary apprenticeship at the one Michelin-star Relais & Chateaux Hotel Dollenberg, in the Black Forest of Germany when he was only nineteen years old. From there, Mario moved on to work in Berlin and the iconic Waldhotel Sonnora, which has held three Michelin stars for 18 consecutive years. Mario strives to apply his skills, passion, tasting prowess and search for perfection in his role at the Villa Eyrie Resort.

Mattias Conradi, the Villa Eyrie’s Master Pastry Chef, has crafted a wide range of colourful, impactful experiences over the course of his career. His experience includes extensive training, followed by Chef Patissier positions in Germany, Abu Dhabi, and Switzerland. One of his favourite methods to create a dish is deconstruct it, and then to re-assemble it in a completely new way. He has also perfected the must-try sourdough rye bread served year-round at Alpina Restaurant.
